Today's pickups, I nearly shat myself in the aisle when I saw Land's Fanged Noumena on the shelf for $12.50. Love him or hate him, that is an insane price that I could otherwise flip and pay for the rest of the haul several times over, and Land's contributions to cyberpunkism as a legitimate branch of posthumanism are worth celebrating by anyone, even if you disagree with the author.

Other than that, a whole bunch of Weird Nonfic to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

~$87 for the whole lot, nearly half of that being Bord's Alien Animals for $30 - higher than the lowest online prices, but in very good condition. Everything else picture but not named was between $5-7 each.

The Art of Michael Whelan was the real treasure find, the other two looked like interesting pulp to experience.

    When we go to the beach on vacation each year I always make a point to stop in the local bookshop. Selection and moreso price aren't great, but it's always so much fun just to look around.

    Went the past week and picked up:

    • 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Verne)
    • Secret History (Tartt)
    • Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow (Zevin)
    • And Then There Were None (Christie)
    • Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (Pirsig)

    You people can afford buying books. I have ~20 books from my 19 years of existence.

    But I'll probably be able to afford more books when I'm permanently employed, but will probably never have time to read them until retirement (if thaf hypothetically ever happens).

    I often go to what are called little libraries. They're just small book cases outside that are freely accessible to anyone. You can borrow books, sometimes keep the books and donate books. There a lot of bad books in them, but also a lot of wonderful titles to be found. You can find more info, including a map with locations, here.

    I don't know your situation, but I only buy thrifted books, and I've never spent more than like £15 for a book and that's usually the art books only, you can get real good stuff for less than a fiver.

    I found these two at the bookstore on Friday. I’m excited to read them! This was a rare retail bookstore haul, I get about 75-80% of my books at thrift stores and used bookstores for $1-5 a piece.

    The Fake Divination Offense by Sara Raasch is football player meets cheerleader romance except the player is a half orc. I’ve read The Nightmare Before Kissmas by this author and enjoyed it a lot. This one should be fun.

    I picked up You Won’t Forget Me by Mazey Eddings on a whim. It has a cute cover and it’s a romance novel that involves band drama and it’s a sapphic love story, so it will be fun too

    Also picked up but not pictured Wayward by Blake Crouch. It’s the second in the Wayward Pines trilogy and I’ve had book 1 & 3 for a while now, so I grabbed it. I’m a big fan of Crouch’s books, I’ve read most of his novels, and I’m really looking forward to this trilogy.
