To this day the part of the Internet that vexes me most is shitposting. Like is this funny to anyone? It's like family guy humor but without good writing. It's just random and gross and weird. Good job trolling me or something?

Shitposts bring me a small amount of joy because it's just people all agreeing to be silly together. The fact that someone else thinks this will make me chuckle makes me feel a small connection and also they're right it did make me exhale slightly.

No, I don't think that's what shit posts are about. Shit posts are just basically whatever weird memes someone's brain comes up with that may or may not make sense. And everyone liking or commenting is basically saying "yes. I see your weird brain and it makes my weird brain light up also."

Shitposting is equal to trolling. They are posts/comments/images meant to derail a topic and cause chaos. This is almost completely lost inside a community just for posting shitposts, where there's no topic to derail with the shitposting; shitposting is the topic.

Ideally, this would be a place to post sceeenshots of successful shitpost trolling and not just the shitpost itself.

Intrinsically funny? Not really. But I like seeing communities, especially organised and elitist ones get cleverly disrupted by trolls and shit posts that get a ton of engagement, both good and bad.

Like that guy who posted in Microsoft flight Sim subreddit showing a selfie of his first day on the job at a real ATC tower. Only its not really him, just some random ATC and the tracking screen behind him was edited to show two planes on a collision course. Half the sub was balling him out for not paying proper attention, another half was deeply sus and demanding proof, and the third half was just quietly recognising a masterful troll post and enjoying the show.
