Pretty soon he'll be all relaxed and ready to go to town on those nice curtains. Hopefully just by rubbing fur all over them.
Once he's convinced you aren't going to eat him, he'll warm up and get friendly.
We had five cats, and entire family, and one always thought that one day I'd get hungry enough to eat her, until she passed at 17.
