I've never felt more proud of not knowing so many words

literally all I know about this image is that Lizzo is a disgusting piece of shit that sexually harasses, body shames, and is a huge misogynist to her staff and crew

Yes you read that correctly… it was all an act.

The final one is about a YouTube animator JoCat who was as far as I understand pretty beloved and charming.

I may not be up to date on events but while streaming he improved a gebderbent version of boys by Lizzo and people liked it so he made a full animation for it.

A small but loud number of people, primarily from outside his community considered the swapping of the genders and/or the platforming of Lizzo to be misogynistic and gave him enough hate that he permanently stepped away from content creation.

I have no idea if anything else has happened since but to my knowledge that's the event that made him "cancelled". Imo it's different to being cancelled because most people are on his side and are supporting him, and everything I've seen about this news takes that stance. Him suffering abuse from a few niche corners of the internet and quitting the platforms is not the same as the internet's collective consciousness turning against him. Metaphorically, he which his workplace due to bullying by people who foybd something he did obscene, he didn't get fired for it.

Jocat didn't get cancelled, he got bullied and his family threatened to the point he quit.

This is going to sound like a dumb question, but what's the difference? Getting cancelled isn't exactly an official status that is bestowed on people.

"The viewers are mad because of something you did or said, so we're cancelling your show on our network."

    vs

"Hey everyone on this forum, let's all dox this person and send anonymous hate mail to their actual home."

Seriously, all that over a 30s song that's not even offensive? We've successfully moved from snowflakes to frozen hydrogen territory.

Apparently this is just some twitter drama? Not exactly Earth's finest left back in that pit, don't let them drag you down. Gotta be strong these days.

Despite being very grateful for what this job has done for me and my family, I’m simply not strong enough to keep doing this if it means having to just accept this kind and amount of distress. Perhaps that makes me weak, but I’ve rarely ever really thought otherwise.

I agree with Jocat, this isn't a sign of weakness.

Can we drop this "gotta be strong" shit when people are literally dealing with thousands of random abusive asshats never leaving them be?

Idk what it's about, but I think OP must be chronically online to post something like this with zero context expecting everyone else to understand it. It is time to touch grass and stop emotionally investing in internet drama.

I wasn't expecting anyone to understand without context(you can just find the context if you're curious), and I'm not chronically online for being saddened by something horrible happening to someone I, in some way, idolize. Also, this isn't internet drama, it's a person being harassed and cyberbullied out of their career.

as a wannabe creator it's rather terrifying to see that even Jocat, one of the softest and most wholesome creators I've had the pleasure of watching - gets bullied out of doing what he loves. Where are those hate mobs coming from? what is their point?

Jocat gave me a lifetime ban like seven years ago when I sent a message in his twitch chat that didn't translate right. Sent an apology dm to him in hopes I could clear it up, but that seemed to make things worse. People just don't give each other the benefit of the doubt on the internet 😔

I can go on about it but I imagine there's not much interest, just wanted to vent.
