Remember when you didn't even need to log into anything? I genuinely want the internet to go back to that

Come with me back to IRC land. The water's fine.

(Technically you should log in to nickserv, but that's it)

    It's waxed and waned.

I remember when you had to log into everything, but there wasn't much to visit. Then people started using the Internet en mas and selling ads was the market maker. So you didn't need to log in, but you did get the most malicious JavaScript ever written trying to jam pop-ups under your cursor.

Now we've somehow managed to achieve the worst of both worlds

Unless it's got literally nothing of note on it, I try to make a habit to log into everything manually every time. Some sites find this "suspicious" and make me check my phone and email to get in, which can be a little annoying.

Lol no, they aren't going to try and find your ID in online data breaches. It's a joke about these "send us your ID to confirm your age" things get breached all the time

While the data breach part isn't real, the rest of it is.

lol, the data breach part is super real. Them actually searching for it for your authentication isn't.

Never not fucking ever will I ever upload any ID to any internet anything. I don't like using my bank card online. Or in person. Cash is king baby, all else is bullshit and giving fuckers new and exciting ways to steal your shit

It's related to Australian social media ban for teenagers https://discord.com/safety/introducing-new-teen-by-default-experiences-for-australian-users It's not discord's fault, they are just complying with a ridiculous law.
