    The core of the meme is that the sticks/trees are the same size. It's merely the perspective trickery that confuses your mind into thinking one may be bigger than the other.

    This plays on the fact that the idea of working harder than you should = more money is presented as fact by some people/organizations/cultures.

    They're the same size, and only the perspective of the lines around them make the "overtime" one seem bigger. It's an allegory for the fact that corporations don't appreciate "hard work" and that you giving your life to them isn't going to make you rich, just them and you can get fucked.
