This is huge. The digital divide is still very real. We forgot about it because richer areas got gigabit, and brought the average up, but poor areas haven't improved much since dial up.

Won’t somebody think of the local monopolies that blocked municipal WiFi and made gentleman’s agreements to not enter each other’s territory?!?

How much money are these companies sitting on, and yet they are still capping peoples wifi down to 1tb, which is a good amount acually but nothings changed for years in many areas regarding data caps, unless you have more money or happen to be in a good u.s state with competition for internet, like Ohio.
Cue predictable whining from telcos who no longer have a patsy installed in the FCC. Have a heaping helping of "obey the regulations," followed by a hot steaming cup of my piss.
I am proud that one of my posts on this community has reached 100 upvotes.
