They should push through rank choice voting and get rid of the first past the post system.

They don't (I sure didn't know who I would vote for and why at 16) but that doesn't mean it needs to stay that way.

This could present an opportunity to have a few classes still in school explaining why voting matters and why making an informed choice is important immediately when it gets relevant.

    Pensioners have ruined the UK.

I'd rather take my chances with the 16 year olds whos demographic votes left, than the pensioners voting for the Tories and Brexit, and ruining the country for everyone under 65.

Ideally arguments for who should be allowed to vote are independent of what they vote for. If you just want to ensure a specific outcome, there are far more efficient means than elections.

To be fair isnβ€˜t GenX the most right radical generation? Seems to me age doesn’t have a lot to do with it. Surprisingly not even growing up as the internet was established seems to help with media competency at all.

People are afraid of maturity levels, but if they are old enough to join the work force and pay tax, they should also be represented in government.

I have a better idea: let's revoke voting rights for people over 65.

If this were allowed in Germany, the extreme right AfD would be in charge already.

I get how this is fair, but not in a world where young people are brought up by fucking tablets and smartphones. This is on the parents, mind you.
