Didn’t see this coming. Prodigy EPs the Brothers Hageman have dropped a scene from season two, episode one.

And it’s on the official StarTrek.com site.

My spouse is muttering ‘makes no sense at all…’

I’m enjoying just having gorgeous new Prodigy animation to see. And those of you who love a great flyby of a new ship - get ready!

I normally avoid trailers and clips but couldn’t resist this time.

I was grinning through the whole thing! So happy that it’s looking so likely that we’re going to get the second season.

Big thank you for posting this

It could well be all we ever see of this series so soak it in.

    Doesn’t hurt to be optimistic.

Also doesn’t hurt if we are all supporting this show both by being vocal online and (if people

can afford it) supporting with our wallets. Physical blu-ray (my preference after how much digital and streaming has messed us around) or digital sales.

I hate this era of late stage capitalism where we reward companies for cancelling shows by buying all their merch

That’s a fair point - Does that just encourage companies to cancel… get a burst of sales.. renew and repeat.

That being said - buying the thing you want to watch isn’t the same as buying all the merch.

Could also just cancel the streaming service (and buy or rent the individual shows that you want).

I’m sure as hell not subscribing to Paramount+ as “the home of trek” if it cancels or splinters the shows so isn’t the actual home of all trek.

What a great first peek. I love seeing the Doctor. I'm happy to see this clip's release, but I'm staying with cautiously optimistic about the where and when of Prodigy's future home and seasons, and the availability for viewing of season 2. Leaning towards optimistic because someone had to give permission to release the clip. Paramount+ maybe? Until Prodigy has a new home, I'm guessing that Paramount+ owns the rights to Prodigy.

I don't doubt that there are parties interested in carrying the show. They would gain a show with a preexisting, supportive fan base and become a part of the Star Trek realm.

All in all, an impressive response by Star Trek fans to Prodigy and the creative team's poor treatment by Paramount+. Go team Star Trek fans!

Did Paramount realize how badly they screwed up with the cancellation?

This is coming out of a presentation at Star Trek Las Vegas by the Hagemans.

TrekMovie.com is quoting them as follows:

Right now, there are active talks happening and I’m being 100% honest with you, we are 99% confident that there will be a new home for our show.

Knowing a few people who have worked on series that ended up looking for new networks, I feel pretty confident that for zillions of reasons (both legal and promotional) they would never have shown this footage if it wasn't basically a done deal –– this is just marketing to see us go bananas over the Doctor before they reveal the streaming deal. Which –– I could not believe it when I woke up this morning because I was totally sure all the "new home" stuff was entirely wishful thinking and that Prodigy was fully dead.

Not sure it’s uncanceled quite yet…

Is this marketing ahead of landing in its new home, or has Paramount decided to reverse its decision for streaming at leas? (It pretty clear that Nickelodeon can’t afford it for linear.)

The Hagemans are still referring to a ‘new home.’

Here is hoping for a camo by Ensign Harry Kim.

At least in the STO continuity, Kim is a captain by this point, commanding the Rhode Island.

This is earlier, mid 2380s, not the 25th century when Picard and STO take place.

@khaosworks@startrek.website would have the best estimate of the date.

But if Kim got the catch up promotions he well deserved, he could be a lieutenant commander by this point. We’ll see.

The year at this point would be late 2384 or very early 2385, so about 6 years since Voyager returned home. It’s been some time since the Season 1 finale. We last left the kids in the 61000s as far as Stardates were concerned, which is 2384, and since the Romulan Evacuation is still a going concern it’s before the Mars Attack on April 5, 2385.

I'ma be honest, I want him to either be relatively high-ranking (Commander and Janeway's XO maybe?) or puzzlingly still an ensign. No middle ground.

My 8-year-old daughter loves Prodigy, and we've started dipping into Voyager (after 50,000 rewatches of every Lower Decks episode except the Billups one), and she loves it, but every time Harry Kim is on screen she lets out this teenagery exaggerated groan of annoyance (I've never connected more with another human being). I'm so hoping he shows up on Prodigy because it would be hilarious how angry she'd be.

If there's going to be more voyager characters I really hope Neelix gets a cameo for an episode. I'd love to see him back in the kitchen with Jankom taste testing lol

I would suspect it's because everyone has their own, individual tastes, and even for the people who prefer PRO, most of them don't feel the childish need to disparage another show they like less or dislike.

I suspect many of us also take exception to the intransigent insistence on using the perjorative ‘STD’ when that is not and never has been the short form for Discovery. (We haven’t see ST:TOS and ST:TNG in use in decades.)

I love Prodigy and am advocating strongly for its return. What I have no tolerance for is denigrating another show in the franchise, that has been successful in its own audience niche, to promote the ones I most wish to see.
