Here are the answers to the pop quiz.

How did you do?

It can really get tricky, especially if you're seeing them outdoors or without others to compare it with.

This one's name is Percy and he thinks youre a bit sus

Edit: just saw the other comments and understand now you weren't asking for NAME ID, but for taxonomical designations. Still think he's a Percy for sure.

    Bird 3

    Western

    • Bold vertical stripes
    • Dense horizontal stripes
    • The beak and base coloration is tricky on this one, but the stripe patterns really give it away. That's why it's important to look at all the differences.

    Bird 4

    Eastern

    The other tricky one.

    • Light beak
    • Thinner, curved horizontal stripes
    • (Thick vertical stripes and the density of the horizontal stripes make this one harder)
    • White base feather color

1 out of 4, I got an "F" 😅 but it was still fun. Thanks for the pop quiz :)
