Pinning this for 7 days.

2025-07-10 Update: I'm keeping this post pinned until July 31st or the EU initiative reaches 1.4 million. Whichever comes first.

Good news divers a whole ceremony representing the initiative meeting the agenda is to happen. This means the EU will be genuinely looking at this demand and hopefully craft a policy that will allow games to remain playable even if the developers and publishers have moved on

The UK government's response to the petition is an extremely long winded way of entirely missing the point surely? The main thing is offline games which should theoretically work indefinitely assuming the hardware and operating system is the same.

Although it does make me wish we could go back to self hosting fps servers, those were the days..

I'll attempt to echo Ross Scott:

The approximate end goal of the Stop Killing Games intiative is to:

    • prevent publishers from killing games where consumers/gamers were not informed briefed that what they paid for was a live service game.
    • and/or have the live service game in any manner of a playable state when they decide to pull the plug.

As to how the UK's government will respond will be up to them.

Will they come in clutch for Divers, UK consumers, and fellow gamers? or will they fumble the ball?

    • It's up to them to decide how they should act.

On a Helldiver level we should be looking to pressure AH into getting ahead of the curve rahter than wait for legislation/regulation. Like Imagine instead of being forever bound to J.O.E.L. HD2 has tools allowing for players to run thier own seperate galactic wars be it solo or even communty wide.

(like maybe this community has it's own server where the mods are J.O.E.L.)
