Supporters of Palestine have called to boycott the payment platform Stripe after its CEO and co-founder Patrick Collison - an Irish-American billionaire who has advocated for Palestinians in the past - posted on social media on Wednesday about his run on the beach in Tel Aviv and how it was "great" to be back.

Many responded to his post on X by pointing out that he was only thirty minutes away from the Gaza Strip. Conservative estimates say nearly 44,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's war on Gaza and two million have been under constant Israeli aggression as they fight what UN experts have called "'deliberate starvation".

Some drew comparisons to the Academy Award-winning film, Zone of Interest, which depicts the everyday lives of Germans who lived next to the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War Two.

No, it is not. You do know that life still goes on right? Yes, he shouldn't tweet about it, songs screech at him for being insensitive, stop with this cancel culture stuff already.

People can't make a single small mistake in life anymore without being stomped into the ground by people like you. You want the company stripe gone, you want this dudes life ruined, you want other companies to sacrifice time and resources and get pissed when they aren't willing to do that because THE DUDE VISITED A BEACH.

What is it with current generation and the sheer inability to just let things go? Yes, there is a genocide happening in Palestine, and Palestine has my complete and 100% support and Netanyahu will burn in hell for sure.

But can we just please stop cancelling everything that doesn't do 100% correct? Thank God Lemmy is anonymous or I know for sure that I'd get a cancel culture mob after me as well for the sin of wrong think, I'm disagreeing with you after all, oh the horror.

People like you are the reason why so many people are flocking to right wing ideologies. You are part of the problem. With you they can't make a single mistake, they can't learn and improve, they are perfect or we will destroy them. At the right wing side they're welcomed with open arms and can just live normally.     Dude just accidentally visited a beach. A mistake anyone could make. Get over it. I myself have accidentally just walked down a beach which may have been in a country actively committing genocide and I may have had to make the conscious decision to fly to said country and ignore everything about it, and my money may have been helping to fund said genocide and whitewash the actions but like it's just a minor mistake. Can easily happen. It's just an accident bro.

    This behavior literally hurts your cause. If you'd listen for a second to the Maga guys, yes, you'd hear more than enough of them tell you they went full Maga because they were fed up with the political correctness and immediate judgement and execution of the likes of you.

    In case you haven't noticed: Maga is in charge now of the US. If you're a US citizen then thank you for screwing all of us over with your stubborn "BUT IM RIGHT" which now will fuck over the entire world.

    The customer is always right. In the original meaning of the phrase: if enough people are sufficiently mad at your business to stop spending their money for your services, you as the business owner are in no position to argue with them or call their concerns frivolous.

    No business owner is being forced to acquiesce to the boycotters' demands. People are just choosing not to give them money if they don't like what they're seeing. If a boycott like this ends up tanking Stripe or any business that uses it, that's literally the free market at work and the result of consumers exercising their right to choose who to do business with. Tough luck, should have adapted to the market.

    You're missing the point.

    The dude went to a beach and a large group of people want to crucify not only him but also all the employees in his company. All must be punished because wrong think!

    Can we PLEASE just all calm down and not make storms in coffee cups? Yeah, a conversation can be had about the insensitivity of his post, but why do we all need to pearl clutch and pitch fork whenever anyone makes the slightest misstep?

    People aren't even allowed to learn from mistakes, kill kill kill immediately!I've seen too many people's career ended over insignificant bullshit, it has to stop.

    And the collateral damage? Look at this sub, I'm trying to have a conversation about people calming down and see the responses I'm getting. You agree with us or we will cancel you too, dissenting is not allowed, wrong think is evil!

    This attitude is what pushes the normal johnny from the corner to the right side of politics where he can simply say something dumb without immediately being crucified. This attitude that you're displaying is what pushes more and more people to the right, this attitude is what got trump elected. Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop these crusades, stop pushing shit heads like trump into power.

    Yeah I'm not sure if you're just so dumb or actually sick enough to believe that Israel is at the same level. Maybe read just a little more history? Israel is fucked up, but not even close.

    They're currently in the process of exterminating 2.2 million people by turning Gaza into a concentration death camp.

    The only difference from the Nazis is the Nazis had a larger starting population to exterminate. Other than the gross total, the methods are similar and the goals are similar. People in Gaza are being starved and butchered on a scale eminently comparable to the Holocaust and I don't know how you can deny this.

    Yeah, Gaza is abhorrent, noone will deny that. You comparing Gaza to the Holocaust as being 1:1 is just you not having the first clue of how fucking efficient the Nazis were in comparison to what Israel is doing.

    Yeah, Netanyahu deserves to be hung, nothing less, but your comparison is dumb

    They're starting with a smaller population in Gaza, but the most recent estimate from June had the death toll at more than 186,000 people. They're not just blowing people up, they're sniping them with drones, they're starving them to death by blocking aid, they're depriving them of medicine and water and sanitation, they're making hospitals nonfunctional, they've made 2+ million people homeless as we're heading into another winter. It's a fucking nightmare, easily comparable to the Holocaust.

    The methods are similar and the goals are similar.

    Not only does Netanyahu deserve to be hung, so do all the Nazis in his army.
