Doesn't look like he's pulling on the charging handle.

It appears that he's changing the select fire switch and changing the rifle from semi auto to full auto.

Thats why when he pulled the trigger on the first shot only one spent case was ejected, but after he adjusts it you can hear several rounds fire off as he squeezes the trigger.
