So what's the new best practice for syncing Syncthing to an Android device going to be?

Installing F-droid probably. Makes it a bit harder on some devices 🤷🏻‍♂️

Did I misread? I thought it said the app was going away completely (from both the Play Store and F-Droid).

There is a fork or you could try the original in termux or the tasker integration.
