They could do an article about every Switch release, since they are technically playable on Linux with emulation. Or about Xbox Cloud Gaming using a browser. This is general PC gaming news, not gaming on Linux. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago (1 child) That's pretty silly. In your world a website cannot cover things that aren't specifically defined within its name. Despite the fact that in this case, most games that people play on Linux actually are running within a compatibility layer. Somehow that should disqualify them all from getting covered on that site. It'd be easier for you to just say you hate Linux and don't want to read about it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 0 points 2 years ago (2 children) I want to read about it, hence why I don't read GoL: because most of their articles are irrelevant. I don't care about a random indie game running on Linux; this isn't news. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 1 point 2 years ago They are actually one of my go to sites for getting info on new and exciting indie games. I know the articles are not as good or long as other publications but it does what it says. If you do have better alternatives that cover indie games and linux gaming, pls do share. permalink fedilink source parent [–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago (1 child) Games running on Linux don't count if compatibility layers are used. Weird opinion. Expect pushback. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu -1 points 2 years ago (1 child) Most games run on Linux if we take compatibility layers into account. What's the difference with IGN if they talk about all games that run on Linux? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 child) ... so, you think all media sources need to serve fully unique articles? Again, weird. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu -1 points 2 years ago (1 child) It's called Gaming on Linux. Not Gaming in General. However, they are not a Linux gaming publication, as they mostly talk about Windows games whose Linux compatibility is irrelevant; that stopped being news since 99.9% of Windows games work without issues. It would be like Windows Central making an article about every Switch release that works on emulators. Sure, they are allowed to, but it's not what their publication is about. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago (1 child) No, it's not like that.
