Yes, yes it does. Both Reddit and Discord don't allow 3rd party clients. It's just that Discord never allowed any in the beginning. The arguments of a centralized content silo applies to Discord too. It also never needed third party apps because it works well, has good accessibility features, etc... while reddit doesn't. I honestly don't think that third party apps are a necessity most of the time.
