Not taking away some of the achievement but he had a head start. They were already contenders plus a huge spending spree.

I was going to pop in with the same thought. Even still, looking at those numbers, going 200 for 269 is crazy. New coach or not, that's gotta be among the best runs/rates for any team in history.

there's only a 10 game difference between the greats at #2 thru #4, while there is a 200 game difference from #4 and #5, 53 games less from Pep is still huge
