Thankfully after a few weeks/months the heart palpitations stopped. I mean ... Polio anyone? No? Chickenpox? Oh yeah that's right, vaccines. They actually worked. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [+] wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee 2 points 3 years ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 child) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Piers@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago (1 child) Chickenpox. Ahem. We didn’t have a vaccine for that when I was a child. We just caught it and were miserable for a few weeks. I'm sorry to tell you that's not what happened. You had chickenpox for a few weeks whilst the shingles bedded down nice and cosy in your nerves ready to strike again when your immune system is down. It's not over and it'll be worse when it comes back. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [+] wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 child) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Piers@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago There's a chicken pox vaccine that prevents you from catching it yes. The shingles vaccine reduces the risk of the shingles you already have breaking through into active infection for about 10 years and then isn't effective a second time. (Currently) there's no not-having-shingles once you've got it. permalink fedilink source parent [–] SnowdenHeroOfOurTime@unilem.org -1 points 3 years ago (1 child) Yeah I don't believe you permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [+] wintermute_oregon@lemm.ee 0 points 3 years ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 child) [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SnowdenHeroOfOurTime@unilem.org 0 points 3 years ago The anti vaxxer who claims to have gone through medical school though, everyone is gathering to hear what stupid bullshit they lie about permalink fedilink source parent
