[–] Lucia@eviltoast.org 49 points 2 years ago (5 children) why do people choose it over other instances? Non-techy people want a big instance, but .world goes offline too often and .ml doesn't allow new sign ups. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 10 child comments replies: [–] boredtortoise@lemm.ee 31 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) When I tested different instances lemm.ee was quite small compared to the big ones. The main pros are technically fast and stable. It also federates comprehensively. Edit: also remembered that it hasn't had any insane admin/rule situations that I've noticed permalink fedilink source parent [–] Durotar@lemmy.ml 23 points 2 years ago* (3 children) .ml doesn’t allow new sign ups. I think it also gets filtered out of the all feed, but you can definitely subscribe to stuff over on lemmynsfw.com. Long story short porn is a bugger to mod and the legal situation when hosting (and uploading an image with a lemm.ee account would imply that) is never trivial, either. Somewhat relatedly, image upload limits are also rather strict, 100kb, to avoid that becoming a resource hog. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Lucia@eviltoast.org 3 points 2 years ago That's reasonable!
