Physically taking tape backups to a secure offsite location is one of those best practices. Hell, my personal back ups for my server are stored redundantly on one of my parents file servers. Same for their stuff on my server. If there is a big enough disaster that both our servers locations are rendered damaged from it, we got bigger problems than a server, like a massive metroplex getting razed. permalink fedilink source parent
