You couldn't pay me to live in Idaho. Or Florida.

As a Canadian about to be homeless due to housing costs, I'll take it

I hope you're white and heterosexual if you're planning on taking that Idaho home. And not a woman who is capable of bearing children.

I know those are real issues but you are exaggerating

Rather deal with that than be homeless

Like I said- I hope you're a white, heterosexual male. Being homeless and alive sounds better to me than being killed inside your home because your neighbors don't like your color or who you love.

How many times has that happened? The chances of dying in a car crash are higher

Something tells me you have nothing to worry about in Idaho due to the aforementioned reasons. Enjoy your new neighbors.

When you can't afford housing or groceries these things you are concerned about are on the back burner

If you're a white heterosexual male, sure.

Then why are these topics not discussed in Africa for example?

Ah, whataboutism, a classic way to avoid confronting your own privilege.

All I am trying to say is that it is definitely appealing that I can afford a roof over my head there lol. You have got to be shitting me if you think on the street in Canada is better

You sound like someone who has all their human needs covered and ran out of things to complain about

It may very well be better if you're queer, yes. You're protected by a human rights charter for being queer in Canada. In Idaho... well, read the article.

If you live on the street you are going to die, full stop

That's simply not true. There are people who live on the street for years.

Here you will likely freeze to death

Would live in a red state if push come to shove, just hole up in your house and work from home, live a solitary life

Idaho also has incredible nature you can escape to

Seriously if anyone in Idaho here wants to come try living in BC I'll trade because it's getting really hard to survive here

Sorry, you think it's toasty warm in Idaho?

It snows in the summer in Idaho.

No I think I could afford a house in Idaho

I am sorry for your situation. Is there an equivalent of Social Services you can contact?

Nah it's Canada. Regular working people are ending up on the street in droves here due to housing and grocery prices.

Our government cares more about easy talking points like the dude I'm debating with than actual human needs. But hey at least we can be openly gay while we freeze to death on the street lol

Well, definitely don't come to Florida, then. We're having that issue, too. The heat index has been 110F+ for the last two weeks and I still see even more panhandlers than in recent years.

I used to call Florida a toilet because it was fun to shit on, but I think it's just a hellhole now. Vanishingly few benefits to living here, unless you have a lot of money.
