▲ 81 ▼ Why can I listen to radio for hours but when I listen to music I actually like I feel exhausted after 1 or 2 albums? Are radio stations doing something to songs? Or is it the playlist they use? Or is it me? Can I achieve the "radio effect" for any music somehow?

The radio plays songs I'm not all that interested in, so it fades into the background and I can listen to it for hours without issue. My own songs are interesting to me, so I actively pay attention to them, but that also means I get brain fatigue from that attention. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] lorez@lemm.ee 3 points 3 years ago It's also how I listen to music. I pick a playlist or album and I gloss over everything that I don't like. As soon as something I like goes on it turns on my attention. I study piano, compose, etc so I also try to make sense of what in hearing. Attention is fatiguing. permalink fedilink source parent
