A fire swept through Lahaina Town. Once the capital of Hawaii this place was really popular with tourists and locals. I can't believe the amount of destruction that happened in less than 12 hours.

It’s been hard to understand how much damage has been done and where. permalink fedilink source hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] JoeHill@lemmy.world 16 points 3 years ago Yes. See that big black smoldering mess behind that white building? That is (was?) the Banyan Tree. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banyan_tree_in_Lahaina permalink fedilink source parent [–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 6 points 3 years ago Other pics I've seen look like a 90-100% loss of structures. permalink fedilink source parent [–] ShustOne@lemmy.one [S] 4 points 3 years ago Yes unfortunately it looks like the entire town is gone permalink fedilink source parent
