Revenue streams made things worse. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Rokk@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago (1 child) I think it's a pretty bold statement to claim that the Internet today is worse than it was 20 years ago before things were being monetised. People still do stuff just for the sake of it. To be fun, helpful, whatever. However to expect things to just be done for us out of the kindness of people's hearts I think is bordering on entitled. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] glasgitarrewelt@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago However to expect things to just be done for us out of the kindness of people's hearts I think is bordering on entitled. Yes, there are people who do that, but there are many more people in the FOSS world who don't expect anything and instead contribute.
