Obviously we're not going to spend the money on a Mac and she doesn't need anything very powerful because it's going to be mostly web browsing and Zoom meetings. There are a lot of sub-$300 notebooks on Amazon, and some of them are from companies like Acer and Dell, but there are a shit ton of brands I have never heard of- Excebook, CHUWI, SGIN... some don't even say the brand. I'm sure Linux will install on it no problem. How long the hardware lasts is another matter.
