I don't know anything about vehicles but you just reminded me of something I've recently been thinking about: instead of measuring a movie's success by money made and having to adjust for inflation, why don't we just measure by number of tickets sold?

    Probably because the blockbuster success metrics are for business people not movie buffs. Their target audiences are willing to pay more for the same number of tickets. If a movie does well in a poor country, it's a bonus.
