Is there a way to divorce these types of technologies and products, for instance, the one in this video, from the usage of Android phones? Or even phones in general? I have used Python, like Serial Python, with small mini computers. I have created..Flask applications for switches, but I just haven't connected the dots in how to take something like this and bypass the usage of a cell phone in order to set this up to be connected on the internet.

See if the brand of switch has a HomeAssistant integration. I use HA as the coordinator for most of my "smart home" things, and only buy gear that can be controlled by it. That way my computer runs the show, and I can choose to use the HA android or iOS app if I want.
