Oh yeah. I've definately seen some renders that make it look quite nice, but they do that by adding a bunch of elements to it like skirts, extended wheel arches, spoilers, light bars, paint and lower it to the point you can't use it as a truck anymore.

But then it also really stops being what it origionally was.

It can be a controversial item, but then cars are rarely universally put on a podium for it's looks. Usually when you cater to broad audiences designs are trending towards the more boring/vanilla side.

The cars that really stick out design wise have always been at least somewhat controversial. Even today still with all these decades of car design exprience. Take for example BMW's new (massive) grille.
