  1. an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online especially through social media

...

  1. an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture

It doesn't have to be funny or include a cat or cartoon to be a meme.

Thanks Mr. Dawkins, surely we've subscribed here for your rant in text!

an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture

Why do you think c/politics, c/news, c/politicalmemes, and c/bigbootybitches are separate comms? Why do comms with "meme" in the name exist at all? Literally everything on social media is ideas spread person to person within a culture.

People go for "Meme" comms looking for content that's actually funny or clever, not just random jagoffs screaming "me have good opinion, circlejerk me now, pls!". Do better, I beg

It's not even slightly clever to point out the similarity between Nazis and ICE? Yes, I think the connection is plain, but obviously culture at large doesn't or we wouldn't be allowing it to operate as it does.
