A drivers license and your social security number is all you need. And you only need the latter if you want to expedite the NICS check because you could have a common name that might flag multiple records. I’ve bought plenty with just an ID. And not even a Real ID. It’s laughably easy to buy a gun. And I say that as someone that owns several. Those states are few and far between for most firearms. Some are just handguns. Virtually none have those restrictions for rifles. I’m in Colorado which is on the upper end of being strict and it’s still laughably easy. You do have to do a transfer with an FFL for private transfers but an FFL is stupid easy to get. The only real requirement is you do x number of sales or transfers per year to keep it.
