it's not super common but a couple times a year i will buy something and the price drops a week or two later and you can contact them to get a gift card for the difference. you aren't going to get in in cash or credit in 2026 though. it's 30 days from date of purchase for all the places i have done this for.

    giftcards arent refunds.

    They are a marketing ploy to get you to come back and spend more money.

    Yep. I'm just an idiot. It's not like I'll go back to the store ever again and I'm a regular customer.

    They are clearly ENTRAPPING ME. Just like all the times I returned a product and they gave me a full refund, that was also total entrapment. Or when I returned a product for a warrenty fufillment and they replaced it, also entrapment.

    what point is that? that companies are evil if they give you refunds in gift cards?

    am i also evil when I get my nephews gift cards for christmas? because i'm restricting their consumer choice!

    because 12 year olds care about what store they buy games from...
