I generally don't like virtue signaling but I just watched Odyssey the casting was on point for the entire movie. Amazing performance all around and hated Elliot Page and Lupita Nyong'o did amazing jobs - these people are 100% just racists and bigots.

I'm a Greek mythology nerd too and this is by far my favorite Hollywood take in this niche!

So normally, you'd be against this because casting a black person in a historically white role is "virtue signaling"?

Have you ever considered that the casting director chooses who they think is best for the job?

You're honestly telling on yourself when you call shit "virtue signaling." You're tacitly admitting that you could never believe that a person might be the best for the job because of their race or gender.

If it's used regarding something not related to race, you're admitting to everyone that you lack basic empathy, and therefore refuse to accept that others might have that empathy. "They must be virtue signaling, because nobody actually wants to help the homeless."

This "everything is virtue signaling" bullshit is for the birds. It's a thought terminating cliche that literally makes people racist and sociopathic

    Stop. Do better.

No, just other kinds of virtue signaling. I think re-interperting is perfectly fine as long as the context isnt something punching down like black face. I misspoke I guess but there are virtue signaling that is more akin to obvious rage bait but odyssey is clearly not it.
