[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 23 points 5 days ago (2 children) I had lettuce the other day and I also happen to be having diarrhea. Does anyone know if this is a dangerous condition? I'm getting my medical advice from lemmy because I live in the US and can't afford healthcare... permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] The_v@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago (2 children) Most people handle the infection easily. Its dangerous to the immunodeficient, infants and the elderly. The main risk is from dehydration. So the first recommended treatment is over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medications and drinking lots of fluids. If it lasts for more than a week or you suffer from symptoms of dehydration (clammy skin, dizziness, not peeing etc) you'll need to seek urgent medical care. Someplace that can give you an IV. Not a medical DR, I just play one occasionally for shits and giggles. So this could be correct or a bunch of bullshit. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] jj4211@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (1 child) for shits Your time has come permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago The giggles will get you through though. permalink fedilink source parent [–] krasogad@lemmy.zip 1 point 3 days ago Also not a Dr. Be sure to drink some tea, soup or something with electrolytes occasionally because you will be blasting those out as well permalink fedilink source parent [–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago Just use webmd and chatgpt like the rest of us, snowflake!
