Whenever I hear new stuff, I save it to my Anki. There's this website that shows movie scenes with certain phrases: Playphrase. Have a look at yourself: https://www.playphrase.me/#%2Fsearch%3Fq=like+a+fart+in&pos=0&language=en I've come across two "like a fart in the church" one, which I did not really understand. I live in a Northern urban area, and have never heard this. I wonder if it's regional or old or new. Looked it up, the internet says it's Appalachian, so, Eastern US. When I first heard it, it was from a friend's wife and even he had to look it up.
