Nah, in reality too. I've seen horrible yet charismatic people being praise while quite annoying but overall harmless folks are hated and mistreated.

Ultimately, people care much more about what affects their own life than what affects others'. A murderer might be doing objectively worse things, but to someone not affected by those killings, someone who is annoying them will occupy a greater space in their brain, and get a bigger reaction.
