Painting the bottom blue so algae would form and ruin the reflective properties of the reflecting pool broke it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Digestive_Biscuit@feddit.uk 5 points 1 month ago (1 child) What was it previously? Concrete or painted a different colour? I don't know much about it, only it's in US movies all the time. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] snooggums@piefed.world 8 points 1 month ago It has changed over the years, but was bare concrete when dumbass decided to ruin it because he doesn't understand anything. I had visited it well before it was changed to concrete so I checked wikipedia for the dates. The pool was originally built with a bottom of asphalt and tile, and was supplied from the city's drinking water supply. Starting in 2009, the bottom was replaced with concrete slabs supported by timber pilings, and was supplied with a system of circulating water from the Tidal Basin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Memorial_Reflecting_Pool permalink fedilink source parent
