There was Western Europe, and Eastern Europe. But since Eastern is connotated with dictatorships, Russian occupation, poverty and things like that they've invented a new term wich is "Central Europe". So now you'll hear people from Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, etc refer to their parts of Europe as Central, because they don't want to be called Eastern, and they especially absolutely do not want to be associated with Russia in any way. Which is completely understandable. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [β] jaxxed@lemmy.world 1 point 1 month ago (1 child) Never heard that before permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [β] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 1 point 1 month ago I know, that's why I took the time to explain permalink fedilink source parent [+] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 point 1 month ago [deleted] permalink fedilink source parent
