Most people here are boycotting it because of how the US has been behaving, both domestic and internationally... Threatening to invade allies, destroying relationships with other countries that go back to the end of WW2 for literally no gain, and the brutalization and illegal imprisonment of brown people in concentration camps, just to name a few things.

I got banned for "hate" for a comment that said "the nips." Fucking everybody has nipples. It wasn't even sexual.

Had an account for around 8 years, during that time I participated in some more and some less heated arguments on reddit. Had multiple local bans, mostly for some mild stuff whereas the harsher comments would usually slip under the mods' radar.

My account has been permanently banned on the entire reddit only after I went into discussion with some mods for some .ml-level ridiculous decisions.

Obviously arguing with people with power is an oppression to them.

I'm surprised they didn't just ban you and then immediately mute you, that seems to be the default mod strat on Reddit. Maybe the WC mods are especially argumentative so they don't?

Power-trippy mods love reporting mod messages as harassment though, even when it's just some mild disagreement.

One time I got banned from Sub B (a subreddit I've never posted in) for posting in Sub A, and when I responded to the mod message asking what the ban reason was for since I've never posted in Sub B, they tried to argue some stupid bullshit that I never even said and then clearly reported me for mod harassment even though I barely said anything so I caught a site-wide temp ban, also for 3 days.

And when it comes to 7 day or less site-wide bans, it's a mystery whether the admins even respond to your appeal before the ban runs out on its own. And then you can catch a perma-ban for getting so many temp-bans anyway even when you successfully appeal them, because it automatically escalates to a perma and the admins won't do shit about it.

I lost an account that way because I would post about transphobia that I've faced, it gets false-flagged by bigots trolling trans subs, and I successfully appealed them, but successful appeals clearly don't mean anything anyway other than your ban ending sooner.

-fun fact karma farming is also against the reddit tos. They barely enforce it, but its technically wrong enough that if they flag you for some reason then they can ban you.

Mods on the modhelp forum were delighted, to not work so hard trying to "review each ban" wether they were deserving of a ban or not. most of them are complicit, rarely some mods will fight for the said user(assuming they a long history with that sub). this right around the time when they were beginning the purges last year.
