Trump was in bed with the New York Mafia for decades. The real bosses stayed as far away from him as possible, sending their stooges to control him. Trump had one really smart mentor, Roy Cohn. He ditched Cohn when Roy was diagnosed with AIDS. Trump thinks that he's a genius because he does scams like selling NFTs and golden sneakers to chumps. A real boss would have quietly extorted $50 billion out of Saudi Arabia on Inauguration Day 2017 and then just been quiet. permalink fedilink source parent [–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 months ago We're taking about someone who bankrupted four (4!) casinos. Some of them multiple times. He might be a successful grifter (though that's probably more due to luck and being a useful and extremely easy to buy or convince puppet than any kind of talent), but a shrewd businessman he's most definitely not. permalink fedilink source parent
