[+] agent_nycto@lemmy.world -8 points 3 months ago (2 children) I love that Lemmy would rather blame Democrats than Republicans for what's going on. I'm sure the Republicans love that, too. permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago (1 child) I absolutely blame the Republicans more than Democrats, but there's no point in arguing with fascists. There's good honest people in this thread who are just wrong. "Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past." — Jean-Paul Sartre permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 child) So what, you think the Democrats in Congress are on Lemmy and will see your post so you can argue with them? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 point 3 months ago (1 child) No. When you say Democrats, do you just mean congress people and not registered Democrats in general? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 point 3 months ago I specifically said Democrats in Congress in my previous comment permalink fedilink source parent [–] paul@lemmy.org -2 points 3 months ago (1 child) Right? It's like when people get angry at the police for not trying to stop crime, they should be directing their anger at the criminals. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 child) Yeah, I get it, the police not doing their jobs is bad too, I just feel like I see more people expressing anger at Democrats' ineptitude, and reporting on "the administration" rather than seeing specific anger directed specifically about Republicans. I'll sometimes see that directed at Republicans in comments, but I feel I see more memes and posts about how Democrats suck, how trump and his cronies suck, but not a lot about how Republicans suck. Luke with your metaphor, it's like there's a slasher killing people in the street and more people are mad at police not doing anything effective than saying the killer is bad. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago (1 child) If we've got to stop the killer ourselves, then what difference does the cop make? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago I'm not saying not to complain about Democrats, I'm just saying I don't see people ragging on Republicans as much as they are ragging on Democrats. And some of the same people saying that we need a united front and not to divide the opposition. permalink fedilink source parent
