Hüsker Dü. One of those bands that was never huge, but a lot of people influenced by them got huge.

    Along the same lines is some bands called king crimson and the melvins

    Melvins absolutely.

    King Crimson? The first prog rock band? I also happen to like prog rock though not much of Crimson specifically grabs me(I like a few songs.) But I have a hard time thinking of them as similar to Hüsker Dü.
