I never really saw it as an allegory for fascism, but that's an interesting take.

At least the bad guy gets shanked in the end.

    Ackshually the current state of the USA is highly reminiscent of the late Roman period of circa 300 CE. Civil unrest, oligarchic rule, bureaucratic overload, corruption, a state of perpetual internal and external conflict, rapid succession and dramatic leadership shifts...
