Your desktop DOES feel like a consistent thing. These are separate applications to do specific things not everyone needs to do. That already have delivered solutions...

Again, you're just proving how cultish and stupid these walled gardens are.

    And how does it measure up to a walled garden?

    Why do KDE and GNOME have their own File manager? why their own System settings? Why does MS Office 95 not look foreign in Windows 95/98?

    You apparently have no tickets in this game, so why are you even arguing? Just go ahead be up and holy decreeing that GNOME is shit.

    lol Your attitude is what is cultish. People used to make fun of KDE for having their own apps for everything. Of course it was usually light ribbing.

    Like I said, recreate the wheel if you want. I won't be cheering you on.
