iirc he was a "fruitarian" for a long time before the cancer, but I think he did believe it would heal him. Or something, I don't remember. Also he thought he didn't stink if he didn't shower. And all the sycophants around him enabled his stank.

He tried it in college. Gave up. Started again after diagnosis. Refused chemo and radiotherapy which could've helped as he went into remission several times, but probably needed the rejected therapies to stick.
