When my family left Cuba for the United States in 1961, they had to stay in Venezuela for six months while they waited to come here. A number of them stayed in Venezuela. The rest went to Florida. My mom and uncle arrived here with my grandparents and great grandparents when my mom was 7 years old. My Cuban family are embarrassing. Thankfully my mom has some sense and doesn't vote GOP.
