Half-elf if I'm not mistaken. Maybe the other half isn't human at all, but dwarf?

    Yeah he’s a half elf, but every time they mentioned his beard in the books the author pointed out that full elves couldn’t grow them. Once you notice you realize it’s like once per chapter
