Read an article a while back which explained why they probably do it, and while I don't think it's the one I read back than this one does a pretty good job. TLDR: for older generations it's a way of separating thoughts most likely leftover from postcards, whereas for the younger ones it looks like something is being (ominously) left out. permalink fedilink source parent
