This effect is even bigger when you don't have kids. I have a niece who went to college and became a dentist and has a kid of her own that is likely about the age of what I remember her being.
My son got new clothes for school. they were a much needed as he grew out of his last set by a lot. and quickly. there's multiple sets from his new clothes he didn't get a chance to wear because he out grew them the next week. 11-13 he's gonna go from being two feet shorter then me, to at least two inches taller. hes BLASTING through clothes. it's very difficult to deal with.
