Remember a ton of countries are not politically free in any real fashion. For example Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and DPRK

Sure, the US is more open than literally the least open governments in the world.

I love how often defending the US is basically just saying "yeah but it's not that bad compared to Sudan."
