Eventually shooting someone will be "abuse of a firearm". Might be able to get assault w/ deadly weapons by pistol-whipping. You want the lesser charge of firearm abuse, you gotta pull the trigger. permalink fedilink source parent [–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 1 year ago Road rage is why they did it, attempted murder is the crime. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 year ago* It's a real phenomenon when talking about incidents involving two vehicles because you unconsciously dehumanize the person in the vehicle since you're not directly engaging with them, but their machine, and can't really see the person in it. Same principle applies on the internet where people aren't seeing a person when they are verbally abusing someone online, which makes it much easier to ignore the empathic part of our brain. At least that's what I heard on the radio. That being said, this one involves a cyclist so I'd just call it attempted murder too. permalink fedilink source parent
